Generally, the more information you have, the easier it is for Points North to transfer those ideas into the design for you. Communication is very essential, as the designer is drawing what you want, therefore how you describe what you need is critical. 

We generally ask clients to collect design ideas they like, be it pictures from the internet or sketches (keep in mind any copyrighted info is not workable). It's fine to collect single element pictures such as kitchens or ceilings etc.

You should collect Floor Plan ideas to suit the Site. The Floor Plan, or layout is the MOST IMPORTANT part of any home design. This is how the home will 'function' & flow. A good floor plan will be good to live in... A great Floor Plan will be Fantastic to live in. The Floor Plan design should come 'from' the site & be designed as 'part' of the site & it's location/slope etc. This is the most important stage/part of the design process. Points North can adjust plan ideas, or start from scratch.

Elevations are provided to show the external shape & style of the design. Points North will provide suggestions on the best solutions for the design. Elevations are obviously dependent on the Floor Plan layout, they are a result of the design & shape of the Floor Plan directly. Elevations should show types of cladding, roofing, windows & doors, general design & shape of the home in a PARAMETRIC view for the client.

At this stage there should be no more design changes. Working Drawings are drawn to Australian construction standards & local regulations & requirements for specific estates. Points North's Working Drawings are high quality & very detailed which allows for better clarity for the builder in general.

Points North Design & Drafting will supply the client with DWG files for Engineering - client to nominate. Engineering is a separate fee, we are happy to suggest & refer our recommended Engineers & other consultants for easy workflow. This is a normal process.

Due to the nature of unique home design in general, it can be very difficult to estimate cost, as each home is different from the next. However, we continue to impress our clients with great pricing & value with very detailed drawings of the highest quality for the builder.
